FRN's Solution

FRN has nearly 200 student-led chapters at colleges and universities across the U.S., and they work to prioritize expansion in areas where food waste and food insecurity are highest.

FRN recovers surplus food from various parts of the supply chain including: local and commercial farms, farmers markets, community food businesses and restaurants, campus and corporate dining facilities, and large-scale events.

Food Recovery Network is the largest student-led movement fighting food waste and hunger in America. Since 2011, FRN's network has:

  • Recovered more than 14.6 million pounds of food that otherwise would have gone to waste.

  • Donated more than 12.2 million meals for people experiencing hunger.

  • Prevented more than 6,437 metric tons of carbon dioxide from reaching the atmosphere.

CheckSammy's nationwide network of Sustainability facilities, including places such as anaerobic digestion and composting facilities, enables us to take organic materials and dispose or redirect them, sustainably. The scale of our Sustainability network allows us to minimize the distance traveled from your location to an end-of-life facility.

Whether you have a one-time need or have need of regularly-scheduled pickup services, CheckSammy is the right place for you. We often do milk-runs from multiple locations, to make it easier and more convenient for you to implement an organics recycling program.
